Santa Monica Pier

After seeing the Hollywood sign and walking the Walk of Fame, we headed over to Santa Monica Pier. The famous L.A. pier that is a fun attraction for tourists, like us. I’ve always wanted to visit this pier since it was the backdrop for so many movies and videos I’ve watched. We walked to the pier and we saw the arcade from The Kissing Booth. Julia, my mom, and I walked around but we couldn’t find the dance game so we walked out. As we walked out, I see my dad getting pulled into the middle of a big circle. It was a street show (or in this case a pier show – haha) and he was voluntold to participate with three other guys. After waiting several minutes for the guys running the show to talk, tell jokes and collect tips, one of them walked out of the circle and with a running start, he did a front flip over my dad and the others. It was cool!

After that, my dad and brother went to get food and sit on the beach while us girls decided to take a trip to the Pacific Wheel – the only solar-powered Ferris wheel. It’s a beautiful view from the top, where you get a panoramic view of the coast. But even in mid-July, it was extremely windy and cold at the top. Once our ride was over, we had to use the bathroom. As we walked out of the ladies room, Garret Clayton – aka Tanner from Teen Beach Movie – was changing his shoes. Julia was almost speechless. At first, we snuck some pictures but then decided to ask him for a photo. He was super nice. My mom told him he was really handsome. Hah!

After that my mom joined my brother and dad on the beach, and Julia and I went on more rides. First we went on Shark Frenzy – a spinning shark ride. Then we hopped on Sea Dragon – a swinging ship ride. We took some pictures and then agreed it was time for soft serve ice-cream. While eating the ice-cream, we decided to get in line for West Coaster – the rollercoaster on the pier. The whole way to the top and beginning of the line we were joking about how we were probably gonna throw up on the ride after eating our ice cream. Luckily we didn’t. They sent us around the rollercoaster twice and although it wasn’t a ton of crazy drops and spins it was really fun because it was on a PIER! Once we were done we went to find the rest of the fam. We ate at Blue Plate Taco – touted as a Mexican restaurant with a view of the Pacific. Food was great, particularly the chips, salsa and queso!
