Day 4 – Grand Canyon

Twenty-one years ago, Shane and I took our first vacation together. We’d only been dating for a little over a year when we decided to hike the Bright Angel Trail down the Grand Canyon to the Colorado River and Phantom Ranch. This trip involved many hours of hiking and two nights of primitive camping. For those that know me know this would not be my number one idea of a vacation. My feet were battered. My body ached. I was exhausted beyond imagination because sleep was elusive when rattlesnakes shook outside your tent or a coyote howled.

But as I stood poised over the trail we hiked all those years ago with our children now in tow, I realized what an extraordinary feat we accomplished and just how majestic this world wonder really is. And it had been the start of what is now a lifetime of adventure.

We spent the day exploring the Grand Canyon. We hiked to Shoshone Point. We ran across some elk grazing on the trees or resting in the shade.

We ate lunch overlooking the canyon.

We walked out over rock and took in the beauty and wonder of the Canyon. If you’ve never been here, if you’ve never seen this, please add it to your travel. Few things are as breathtaking. ~ Gina
