Day 10 – Boothbay Harbor, Maine

We got into Maine pretty late last night. We had some cookies and soda when we got to Aunt Sandy’s house. Her house was beautiful and looked out over the bay. Aunt Sandy and Uncle Okee live in Boothbay Harbor, Maine. At night the town and harbor is all lit up so it looks gorgeous.

We got up and ate breakfast, got dressed, and cleaned up our sleeping area and headed out to the footbridge. The footbridge is a ling bridge that runs over the harbor to the town, so you don’t need to walk all the way around the harbor.

We walked into town and went shopping at some of the local stores. We went to a used bookstore and came out with fifteen books. There were some good books for really good prices. Then we hit a nice shop with a some cute shirts for very low prices. Boothbay has great prices on good stuff.

We stopped for lunch at the Boat House Bistro. We got some Lobster Orzo Mac n Cheese, Shrimp and Grits, Quinoa and goat cheese salad, and lobster cocktail. The boys got three oysters to share. The food was really good. We got a lot if stuff with lobster because as you should know Maine is known for their lobster.

My siblings and I left lunch early to get into our bathing suits. We planned on renting a kayak and a paddle board. So, after lunch that is exactly what we did. We rented a tandem kayak and a stand up paddle board for an hour. We rotated both of the rentals so we all got a chance to use them. We stayed in the harbor and played around in the water while Mommy and Daddy sat on the rocks and read.

By the end of that it was about two thirty-ish. Mommy and Daddy hung around town for a bit and visited a brewery. Us kids went home and showered up and got ready for dinner out.

We had a six thirty reservation at the Whales Tail. So we got there and ordered and ate up. I had shrimp quesadillas. Yum! 🤩 After dinner we took some pictures.

Mommy and Daddy took Lily and I to get ice cream from the ice cream factory. Note: the toppings table to the side is not free. Im telling you this because Lily and I thought they were free and went and put some toppings on not noticing the sign that said: STOP these items are not free. (Not a very noticeable sign) We rushed out of the ice cream store.

Boothbay harbor is definitely worth checking out. Even if only for an hour. But I recommend spending way more than a day there. There is so much to do.

A chill day in Boothbay Harbor was just what we needed. Our decision to make The long drive from Quebec city to Boothbay Harbor last night instead of spending the day on the road today is really paying off.

Kristen and Claire are in town helping Sandy And Okee clear out the garage so that construction for the new master bedroom suite can begin next week. It is wonderful just to relax and to catch up with family. It is also nice to have a base camp just one block from this beautiful harbor town so we can enjoy some quality down time, explore a new area and not have to get in the car for a couple of days.

Taba sent some money for us all to go out to eat and we enjoyed some fresh Maine seafood on the harbor with a beautiful view of sunset at a favorite restaurant of Sandy And Okee’s called Whales Tail.

Highlight of the day included finally getting our hands on some fresh lobster with hopes that much more lobster will come my way in the next day or so.
