So Chicago was great. Very beautiful with tons of tall buildings. On our way to Chicago you could see the skyline. It was very cool especially for someone who hasn’t seen a skyline in a while. Well we got to a really cool park – Grant Park.
That is only the bridge. There were slides, ladders, hills, and more.

When we got bored we decided to go to a skate trail. Me, my dad, and my brother rented roller blades and Julia rented a big wheel scooter.
After a half hour we got a refresher at a stand. Just being able to be there makes me feel great.

A return to Chicago, if even for a day, was a welcome part of the journey. I’m one of those strange individuals- small town heart with a big city soul. I love driving up on a city and seeing the skyline.

Aside from one snafu trying to find parking, it was an easy go of things. The kids enjoyed the large playground at Grant Park and then did some skating around the park rink, which in the winter becomes an ice rink. Pretty cool to be skating around in a park surrounded by buildings.

After an afternoon of outdoor city play, we traveled to Mt Prospect to visit my family. My Aunt Mia and Uncle Dave live there with my cousin Dylan – who is headed to music college in Nashville this fall. (Added visiting Dylan in Nashville on list to-do) My Aunt Connie, Uncle Ray, my cousin Petar and Danny were also there. The kids enjoyed the above ground swimming pool and a full BBQ for dinner.

The start of this vacation started out with family, Family, Family.
