A 4th of July tradition in West Yellowstone, Montana (or at least that’s what they tell the tourists) is to toss bison dung. Yes! You read that correctly. Bison doo is flattened into patties and people come from near and far to fling it across a field. You get three opportunities to fling it the farthest. Your furthest fling gets measured and recorded. The top person in each category (i.e. kids 8-12 – though there were more adults than kids participating) gets a prize. But just for taking part in this great adventure, you get a t-shirt that reads “I flung the dung!” Hahahahahahaha!
